The Scorecard presents business users and executives with a summary of business objectives and initiatives. Using the Scorecard, you can create, link, adjust, and monitor objectives and initiatives. The Scorecard also provides access to status maps, objective or initiative targets and linkages, graphs, reports, and attachments. For auditing purposes, users can implement an approval process with their scorecard, objectives, or initiatives.

The following topics explain how to get started with objectives and initiatives in the Scorecard:

• Welcome to the Scorecard
  The Scorecard is a table with the company's perspectives used as group headings. The user's objectives and initiatives are displayed under the assigned perspectives, with each showing current status, trend, target value, actual value, variance, change, final target value, and state. The objectives, along with any associated initiatives, are classified by perspective, and under each perspective in the scorecard, the objectives and initiatives display current status, trend, target value, actual value, variance, change, final target value, and state.
• Creating an objective
  Using the Scorecard, you create objectives based on your company's strategy. An objective articulates a specific component of what the strategy must achieve and what is critical to its success.
• Creating an initiative
  Using the Scorecard, you create initiatives based on your objectives. An initiative is a task developed to achieve objectives or close the gap between performance and targets. Typical types of initiatives, which are associated with individual objectives, are projects, actions, and activities.
• Associating an initiative with additional objectives
  You can associate an initiative with more than one objective.
• Editing objectives and initiatives
  You can change the name, description, and milestone frequency of an objective or initiative.
• Setting targets for objectives and initiatives
  With targets, you can monitor the status of objectives and initiatives and identify project trends. When you create an objective or initiative, you define the starting and ending target values, along with the frequency in which milestones are tracked within this target.
• Specifying the data source for an objective or initiative
  Objectives and initiatives depend on actual values to determine status and trend. The Data Source tab specifies how actual values are entered into the objectives and initiatives.
• Managing linkages for objectives and initiatives
  A powerful feature of Lotus™ ActiveInsight is the ability to link objectives and initiatives easily to other objectives and initiatives. Objectives and initiatives can be pushed to other users or linked to another user's existing objectives and initiatives.
• Managing bookmarks for objectives or initiatives
  A bookmark allows you to create a link to a Web address, dashboard, or portlet for tracking relevant information pertaining to an objective or initiative. You can create multiple bookmarks which can open in an external window or display under the scorecard in a frame.
• Viewing the change history of an objective or initiative
  The history shows when a property for an objective or initiative was changed, who initiated the change, and what was changed. The history table also displays old and new values.
• Using a status map for an objective or initiative
  A status map displays a visual representation of linkages for each objective and initiative. You can navigate the linkages bidirectionally to determine both how individual objectives or initiatives, such as those of your direct reports, affect the status of your objective or initiative and how your objective or initiative affects the status of others, such as the status for your manager.
• Displaying graphs and reports
  Each objective and initiative has a corresponding graph and report. Graphs provide a visual representation of the actual values recorded and the relationships with target values. The report displays, in table form, all of the actual values recorded along with history of target values, variance, and status.
• Logging actual values manually for an objective or initiative
  The status and trend values for objectives and initiatives are calculated based on actual data. The data, depending on your objective or initiative data source setting and linkages, can be updated automatically or manually by logging actual values.
• Importing data from a file
  You can import data for an objective, initiative, or entire scorecard from a spreadsheet or XML file.
• Exporting data from the scorecard
  You can export data from an objective, initiative, or entire scorecard to a spreadsheet or XML file.
• Adding attachments to objectives and initiatives
  You can add documents and other supporting materials as attachments to objectives and initiatives. Use the Document Manager to add attachments and other supporting material to your objectives and initiatives.
• Completing or removing objectives and initiatives
  When an objective or initiative reaches its final target date and will not be extended, you can choose to remove it from the scorecard. You can also remove an objective or initiative if it was created in error.
• Delegating the scorecard and configuring permissions
  You can control the access to the scorecard, objectives, and initiatives by means of access controls and policies. A policy can be set for different roles, such as administrators, managers, viewers, and editors. You can delegate management of your scorecard to others.
• Submitting and approving an objective, initiative, or scorecard
  Depending on the ownership of a scorecard, you either send out the scorecard, objectives, or initiatives for approval or are asked to approve another user's scorecard, objectives, or initiatives. When you submit a scorecard, objective, or initiative for approval, your manager or users assigned with approver access are sent the request for approval. Once a scorecard, objective, or initiative is submitted, the manager or approver can approve or return the scorecard, objective, or initiative for revision. If the scorecard, objective, initiative is approved, they will enter approved state. If the scorecard, objective, or initiative is returned, the owner of the scorecard can resubmit after making modifications.
• Displaying results for a different time period
  By default, the scorecard displays results for the current year. However, if you select a different time period, the scorecard displays results for that time period until you log off.
• Transferring an objective, initiative, or scorecard
  When organizational changes occur or people transfer from a job, you can transfer ownership of an objective, initiative, or the scorecard to another person.
• Displaying the Mini Scorecard
  With the Mini Scorecard, you can populate dashboards and other pages with a smaller version of the Scorecard.
