Connect to a Quickr server

After downloading the Lotus Quickr connector installation file, you must perform the following steps to manually install Lotus Quickr connectors and connect to a Quickr server.
  1. Navigate to directory where you saved the executable file qkrconn.msi.
  2. Double-click the qkrconn.msi file to launch the installation wizard.
  3. Follow the prompts from the installation wizard.
  4. Connect to a Quickr server as described in the next section.
You must log in to a Quickr server before you can access place content from your desktop applications.
  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Click Lotus Quickr.
  3. Click the second mouse button (right-click for most users) on the Lotus Quickr icon.
  4. Click Add Places.
  5. In the Server field, type the server name, such as http://your.quikr.server.com.
  6. In the User ID field, type the user ID that you use to log in to the Quickr server.
  7. In the Password field, type the password that you use to log in to the Quickr server. To save the password for easier log in during future sessions, click the Remember this password option.
  8. Click Next. A list of available places is displayed.
  9. Select the place that you want to work in and click Finish. You can select more than one place during this step.
  10. To set the temporary folder where documents are stored before being transferred to the Quickr place, highlight a place name and click Properties.
  11. Click OK to confirm your settings.

When you save the connection settings, a connection is established, and the list of places you selected is shown in Windows Explorer. An icon with the place name or names is added under Lotus Quickr in Windows Explorer. Places that you unchecked in the Add Places window are removed from Windows Explorer.

If more places are available on the server, you can add them later by right-clicking in Windows Explorer and clicking Add Place. While you are connected to the Quickr server, documents that you update are automatically uploaded to the place, and the upload status is displayed in the Quickr File Monitor.

You can now work with documents stored in a Quickr place from your desktop. Documents appear in a folder-file hierarchy under the appropriate place icon. You can also see any personal views that were created in a place, along with Drafts Views and Shared Views. The Working Drafts view shows all drafts you have originated. The Checked Out by Me view shows all documents you currently have checked out in the place.
