Checking out documents without opening them

You can check out a document from your places list without opening it. Checking out a document prevents others from editing it. To check out a document you must have the access necessary to edit it. When you check out a document a lock icon displays next to it in your places list.

To check out a document from your places list without opening it:
  1. In your places list, open the place that contains the document you want to check out.
  2. Right-click the document and click Check Out.
    Tip:
If you have installed the Lotus® Quickr™ connector for Microsoft® Office, you can check out an open Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft PowerPoint document by selecting the menu option Lotus Tools > Check Out.
A checked out document displays a lock icon. If you have selected the place property Shows Views, the Personal Views > Checked Out by Me view shows the documents that are currently checked out by you.
