Understanding access to places

To connect to IBM® Lotus Quickr places from within the IBM Lotus Notes® client, you need access to at least one Lotus Quickr server where you have access to places.

After installing the Lotus Quickr connector for Lotus Notes, check with your administrator for the Web address of a Lotus Quickr server or servers you can use. You may have access only to link to existing files in places, or you may also have access to save files in places.

The first time you use a Lotus Quickr option in Lotus Notes, you are asked to specify a Lotus Quickr place location. To use the Lotus Quickr connector for Lotus Notes, you must already have access to at least one Lotus Quickr place that you have added using the Lotus Quickr connector for Microsoft Windows Explorer.

Tip: You can also add places from the Lotus Quickr File Monitor.

When a recipient of your message clicks a link to a place, opening the document takes the recipient's preferences into account. For example, if the preference is to check out documents and edit them, clicking a link you send checks out the linked document and makes it available for editing.
