Connecting to Lotus Quickr from Lotus Notes

You can open and save files to and from your IBM^® Lotus Quickr places directly from your mail or other IBM Lotus Notes^® applications such as discussions and teamrooms. You can send and receive links to files instead of actual attachments, saving space on your mail or application server, as well as making documents available for team collaboration.

Understanding access to places
To connect to IBM Lotus Quickr places from within the IBM Lotus Notes client, you need access to at least one Lotus Quickr server where you have access to places.

You can select a file already in a place and send a link to it other users. When all recipients have access to the place, sending a link improves collaboration and saves space in your mail file.

Over time, you can streamline the size of your mail file or other IBM Lotus Notes application by saving files you already have as attachments in a place, and saving links to them in the mail file or application.
Copying attachments to a Lotus Quickr place
You can copy files you already have as attachments to a place, without replacing the attached files in your mail file or in another IBM Lotus Notes application.
Setting Lotus Quickr preferences
You can control what IBM Lotus Quickr does each time you send a mail message that contains an attachment. By default, Lotus Quickr asks whether you want to send an attachment or a link, and where you want the link to point. But you can set preferences so that Lotus Quickr always creates and sends a link, and always to your preferred palce location. Or, if you decide not to use Lotus Quickr place linking, you can return to sending attachment files every time.
