Lotus   IBM Lotus Domino Administrator 8.0
  Versions 8.0, 8.0.1, and 8.0.2

Using the Domino server with a trial evaluation license

You can install IBM® Lotus® Domino® with a trial evaluation license or with the traditional production license. There is a production certificate and an evaluation certificate and each has its own install kit. The first time the server is brought up without a production license, a trial license is automatically assigned. The server console displays a message indicating that Domino does not have a production license, and a temporary evaluation license has been created for you to use for 60 days.

During Domino server startup, Domino checks whether you are using a trial version or the production version. If it is a production server install, the server startup process continues as usual. If it is an evaluation version, Domino checks whether the evaluation period has expired. If the evaluation process has not expired, the console displays this message:

W A R N I N G
You are using a temporary license.
You need to enroll IBM Lotus Domino within <number> days.

If the evaluation process has expired, the server startup is terminated and the console displays this message:

Your license is expired.
You should now install a production version of the product.

You can now install the production Domino server.
